AN
OPEN LETTER TO DR. JAGDISH MUKHI
BY SANJAY PURI
COUNCILLOR WARD-17,
JANAK PURI
Date :
25th April, 2003
Respected
Dr. Mukhi Ji,
The chaos
and hoolaganism created by your supporters during the
Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Super Speciality
Hospital on 23rd April 2003 at C-2-B Block, Janak Puri
was really deplorable and disgusting act of frustration.
Such acts are a blot on Democratic System. During this
function, which was organized by the Delhi Govt., the
forcible occupation of the stage by the outsider workers
called by your party and raising slogans of "Dr.
Mukhi Zindabad", Tearing the posters and banners,
put up by Congress Party Workers, outside the venue
of this function by these outsiders, Damaging the welcome
gates put up by Congress workers etc. not only damage
the harmonious environment and camaraderie amongst the
cadres of different parties but it gives rise to the
tensions among them. On this occasion, if the Congress
Workers were not asked to practice restraint, then the
situation could have turned worse.
The
un-necessary scene created by you on the stage and your
fight with Hon’ble Health Minister of Delhi – Dr. A.K.
Walia, over my sharing the stage with others, is beyond
my understanding. After
seeing you so worked up and upset over this trivial
matter, I was really amazed because your protest was
against the democratic values and people’s verdict.
I
am the elected representative from Ward-17 i.e. Janak
Puri. You must accept this bitter truth with humility.
Whether you accept this fact or not, it will remain
a truth. Here, I wish to remind you that during the
above mentioned function on 23rd April, I came down
from the stage NOT because of any
pressure but of my own accord because I wanted to end
the chaos and unruly bahaviour shown by the workers
of BJP. I also wish to remind you that had I wanted,
I could have asked my party workers and colleagues to
create a scene too so that the Municipal Councillor
from Ward-18 also had to step down from the stage. It
should be kept in mind that the Invitation Card for
this function did not have the name of Ward-18 councillor
but it is against the tradition of Congress Party to
fight over such trivial matters.
Very
soon, you have forgotten the fact that on the occasion
of Inauguration of Flyover opposite District Center,
Janak Puri a function was organized by M.C.D. in which,
I had not only given your name on the invitation card
as well as on the commemorative stone, but the names
of Dr. V.k. Malhotra as well as Dr. Meena Thakur were
also included on the same. Similarly, during my tenure
as Chairman – MCD West Zone, two functions were organized
at the MCD West Zone Office, Rajouri Garden and which
were presided over by me. On both these occasions, the
leader of Opposition in MCD Shri Subhash Arya, who belongs
to your party, was not only invited but his name was
written on the three commemorative stones to mark these
functions. By doing this, I have obeyed the tradition
as well as the Protocol. But the strange behaviour shown
by you on 23rd April which broke all the laid norms
and Democratic Traditions has brought a bad name to
the chair of "Leader of the Opposition" and
is really below your stature and dignity.
You are
a Teacher before and a Politician afterwards. My father,
too, has retired from a govt. school as a Teacher. The
residents of whole Janak Puri will support the fact
that whenever I come face to face with you, I pay my
respects to you by touching your feet. There is not
a big difference between my age and your son Atul’s
age. I am making a humble submission that touching
feet should not be treated as my weakness.
Whenever
I got a chance to address the public, I have always
appreciated the works done by you for the residents
of Janak Puri, in your presence as well as in your absence.
You are active in politics for the last 30 years. You
are an MLA as well as Leader of the opposition in the
House, you have also graced the chair of the Finance
Minister of Delhi. In Politics, I have learnt a lot
from you and will keep on learning from you as this
is my first year in the electoral politics. You must
treat equally both the Municipal Councillors from Janak
Puri. If I had kept on sitting on the stage, it would
not have created a storm. But the behaviour shown by
you is incompatible to a dignified MLA like you with
such a big stature.
On 11th
April 2003, a complaint was lodged against me in Police
Station Janak Puri that on Wednesday the 11th April
2003 at 8:00 P.M., I went to the Kesri Gym situated
at A-2 Block, Janak Puri along with my colleagues and
threatened the owner of the gym to vacate the premises
within three days failing which he would be killed.
The photocopy of this complaint has been sent to various
Police Officials alongwith Senior Union Ministers and
C.B.I. The photocopies of this complaint have also been
sent to Editors of various leading news papers of Delhi
but this news was not published by any of the news paper.
The fact of the matter is that I have never went to
the Kesri Gym and neither do I know the owner of this
gym and have never seen him. I have also furnished the
details of my presence in a programme on 11th April
2003 from 6:00 P.M. to 10 P.M. to the top Police Officials
of Delhi. I have written in the letter to these Police
Officials that this false complaint shows the desperation
of various vested interests who are hell bent on ruining
my name as they are scared of my popularity and my result
oriented nature. It seems that your Party Workers have
stooped to the lowest level as a result of the appreciation
received by me for the works done and they have become
desperate to stop this appreciation bestowed upon me.
It
is Politics of the lowest standard to make personal
allegations on one another, to adopt unfair and false
means for character assassination and to give concocted
and fabricated stories to support these allegations.
I do not support this type of Politics. But it is for
sure that a common man cannot have the guts to lodge
a false police complaint against an elected representative
until & unless he has a Political Backing.
Today,
a poster was taken out by BJP Janakpuri Mandal in which,
my resignation has been demanded on the pretext that
I am hand in glove with a gang of people who buy and
sell newly born children. In this case, the Crime Branch
of Police have registered a case against the accused
woman after thorough interrogation and inquiry. If I
would
have been involved in this case, a similar case would
have been registered against me also.
I
am willing to get this matter interrogated through any
Investigation Agency. If after investigation, my nexus
with the said people is established or it is proved
that I am involved in this case directly or indirectly,
then not only the Police is free to take any legal action
against me, but in such a scenario, I declare to resign
from the post of Municipal Councillor and will resign
from active politics for ever.
Now
the question arises – if it is established after investigations
that I have nothing to do with this case and this whole
story is concocted, fabricated and without any iota
of truth, then will you resign from Politics for stooping
to such a low level for my character assassination?
All the
allegations levied on me are false, baseless and without
any truth and they are Politically Motivated. I am going
to prove this through legal means and after this fact
is established (Which is surely going to happen), it
will be left to be seen how the Janak Puri Mandal of
BJP will repent for their lies as they always talk big
about "Dharam, Karam, Hindutva, Nationalism and
Socialism".
I wish
to suggest you that you should guide the workers of
B.J.P. in a proper direction. If you want that peace
and harmony amongst the different parties should prevail
in Janakpuri, then Party Politics should be done at
the time of Elections only. It is the moral responsibility
of elected representatives to maintain this peace &
harmony alongwith development of their area. I have
never retracted from this responsibility. Whatever I
have done for Janakpuri, or Whatever I am going to do
or will do for Janakpuri, cannot be neglected. I take
credit for those works only which are done by me. You
cannot suppress my voice forcefully. The whole janakpuri
is like a family for me. There is an unbreakable bond
between Janakpuri & Sanjay Puri, and you cannot
separate the both.
With
highest regards.
Yours
sincerely,
Sd/-
Sanjay
