Minutes of the meeting held in the Chamber of Hon'ble Minister of Development, Revenue, Food & Civil Supplies, Irrigation & Flood, Environment & forest & Welfare of SCs/STs on 17th November, 2005 at 2.30 PM to discuss the issue mentioned in the enclosed letter pertaining to Ward of Shri Sanjay Puri, Hon'ble Municipal Councillor.

Hon'ble Minister welcomed the Hon'ble Councillor and asked the Hon'ble Councillor to start the proceedings. Shri Sanjay Puri, Councillor stated that in Janak Puri area Eucalyptus trees should be replaced by eco-friendly plants and new plantation of Eucalyptus trees should be banned as it is water intensive and reduces water level. He further desired that instructions may be issued for detopping of some Eucalyptus trees of his ward in different blocks. He further stated that a request to this effect has already been sent to Forest Department by MCD & DDA. Secretary, Environment informed that plantation of Eucalyptus trees has been banned for the last 10 years. Secretary, Environment asked DCF (West Zone) if approval from LG is not required then orders to this effect may be issued by DCF (West Zone) itself for uprooting the same.

Shri Puri, further took up the issue regarding conversion of Nursery school site in A1, A2 and A3 Block of Janak Puri into Parks though in Master Plan it is nursery sites. He further informed that all these parks are well developed and they may be handed over to MCD for maintenance by DDA. After detailed discussion a decision was taken that the said parks may be handed over to Forest Department for maintenance and necessary formalities may be completed from DDA for the same.

Shri Puri, further took up the issue regarding construction of bridge at D2 Jeewan Park and Mahindra Park. SE, I&FC informed that both the cases have been approved by TAC and necessary preparations like design, maps etc have been completed and tenders will be called very soon and construction work will be initiated in the month of January, 2006.

Hon'ble Councillor further took up the issue regarding construction of 2 bridges at 25 & 30 feet road on Pankha Road drain adjacent to Chanakya Place, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi. SE, I&FC stated that a letter to this effect may be given to Hon'ble Minister for further action. Hon'ble Minister further directed the officers of I&FC to inspect the site for further course of action.
