Please find enclosed a representation given by East
Uttam Nagar Resident’s Welfare Association (Regd.),
Indira Park Extn., A & D East Uttam Nagar, New Delhi-110059
and which is self explanatory in nature.
As
you will find from this representation, this RWA has
received a letter DJB in connection with sewer development
tax under which all the residents will have to pay a
tax @ Rs. 200 per sq. mtr. to DJB. The persons depositing
this tax within three months from 1st March,
2003 will get a rebate of 20% and persons depositing
this tax in 20 installments will have to pay simple
interest @ 12% p.a.
For
your information the sewer were laid in these colonies
in the year 1994-95 and about 10% of the residence deposited
the sewer development tax @ Rs. 55 per sq. mtr. In 1996.
Principally, DJB should have collected this tax from
all the residence in 1996 itself but no action was taken
on the same. Today, after seven years DJB intends to
collect maximum tax from the residents of these colonies
but they being from the middle class are unable to deposit
the same.
By
virtue of this letter you are requested to kindly consider
their case sympathetically and save them from this increased
financial burden by lowering this tax.

Another representation given by Akhil Bhartiya Lok Panchayat,
153-B/1, Main Najafgarh Road, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi-59
is also enclosed along with this letter in which the
President of this organization has lodged a severe protest
against high Sewerage Development Charges of Rs. 200/-
per sq. mtr. levied by DJB.
In
this same letter he has threatened to sit on a ten days
dharna. The same resentment and anguish is shown by
the other RWA’s and residents of these colonies as they
find these notified rates on a higher side and present
sewerage lines being non-functional and full of filth
and these lines being narrow also.
Your
kind and immediate attention is needed on both the above
mentioned points and it is also requested to look into
this matter sympathetically. Any action taken in this
regard may kindly be intimated to me also.
