Dear Shri Puri,

We would like to thank you for reposign your faith in the abilities of BSES to turn around the ailing state of power sector in Delhi. We wish to assure you that we are leaving no stones unturned towards achieving that objective.

We appreciate the suggestions given by you and would certainly take them into consideration while formulating our short-term/long-term action plans. As regards your suggestion to take a lenient view towards Pumping house/tubewell connections of MCD/DJB, pleaes be assured that we had right from the beginning, been very accommodative towards such connections. In fact for your convenience and also to obviate administrative difficulties arising out to the large number of MCD/DJB connections, we propose to put in place a single window system for dealing with such large bulk consumers. The details of this scheme are being worked out and we would discuss the same with your once they are finalized.

          Thanking you once again,

Yours truly

Sub : Request for advising Ministry of Power for making payment to DDA for 66 KV Grid Sub Station in Uttam Nagar measuring 4387.17 sq. metre

It is intimated that Grid Sub Station Site of 4387.17 sq. metres at Uttam Nagar was allotted to Chief Executive Officer BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. on institutional rates by DDA. After receiving the demand letter the BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. made a payment to DDA amounting to Rs. 5246871/-. Later on DDA revised the land rate to be charged from Power Distribution Company. On my request and continuous perusal for one year, your good self and Hon'ble Chief Minister takeup the matter with the Urban Development Ministry, Govt. of India for revising land rate.

The Ministery of Urban Development advised to DDA stating that land on zonal variant rate will not be allotted to Power Distribution Companies but DDA can allot the land to Delhi Govt. who will sub lease to Power Distribution Companies. Accordingly DDA raised a demand note to Principal Secretary to Ministry of Power amounting to Rs. 1,55,14,175.00.

You are therefore requested to kindly advise the Ministry of Power for making balance payment Rs. 1,02,67,304.00 and advise the Ministry for sub leasing the land to Chief Executive Officer BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. so the construction work can be taken up on priority.

Yours sincerely,

Power pleasure just a season away

BSES takes up Janakpuri and neighbouring area in round one

Manan Kumar

COOLER SUMMERS are ahead for West Delhi. Wth the augmentation of existing transformers and installation of new panel boards (to check tripping), power failures may be drastically reduced.

The stand-firsts for BSES Rajdhani Power Limited in terms of upgraded facilities are janakpuri and its neighbourhood.

Councillor and chairman MCD (West Delhi) Sanjay Puri recently brought various RWAs and senior officials of Rajdhani Power face to face after straightening out the loose ends with power body officials

Having tasted the initial phase of summer woes, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited is now concentrating on augmenting the supply to various west Delhi colonies.

The schemes that have already been completed include augmentation of thie existing 630 KVA transformer with a 100-KVA transformer at A1 Block, Janakpuri, upgrading the 400-KVA transformer with a 630-KVA one at A-2 and A2A blocks and installation of three panel board at C Block Janakpuri.

The next two months will witness more installaton work. The power body plans to put up new 400 KVA pole-mounted sub-station at Jeevan Park, Uttm Nagar. Apart from augmenting the existing transformer in Chanakya Place sub-station. 11 KVA single panel boards will be installed at number 3 and number 4 sub-stations.

" Our aim is to make life comfortable in the coming summers when the power demand shoots up. We are concentrating on replacing old transformers that can take the extra load. We have devised a complete plan for entire west Delhi, but we are going in a phased manner," says BSES Rajdhani Power Limited chief engineer D.K. Puri.

There are 5 lakh pwer connections in west Delhi and in every sis months the Rajdhani Power envisages to add 32,000 to 40,000 more connections.

An important challenge before the private company is to take 400 unapproved colonies with over two-lakh population into its fold. "We want to ensure that demands are met. But we do expect 100 per cent payment for which we'll be coming out with consumer-friendly schemes," says Puri.

He also promises to go slow on disconnecting MCD and DJB pump houses and tube wells. The focus will also remain on streetlights.

JANAKPURI RESIDENTS EMPOWERED

BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. has sanctioned new transformers for Janakpuri A-1 Block. The work of up gradation of existing 630 KVA transformer at A-1 Block, Janakpuri, has also been completed a0.nd the concerned executive engineers have been advised to execute the remaining works on priority basis, within the next three months.

BSES has also assured that proper maintenance of streetlights will be their major priority. Earlier Sanjay Puri, councillor Ward No. 17, Janakpuri, had drawn the attention of J.P. Chelasani, CEO BSES Rajdhani Power, to the need for repair and maintenance of streetlights, overhead cables in his area.

D.K. Puri, chief engineer, BSES Rajdhani Power, intimated of the company's decision in a letter to the councillor. Meanwhile, the councillor has written to the BSES to regularly organize load enhancement camp and new connection in ward 17 for the benefit of the people where they can come and after depositing the money on the spot, can get their electricity load enhanced.

New substation to rid Uttam Nagar of power woes

Manan Kumar

As the power woes have hit a new high this monsoons there is good news for the residents of Uttam Nagar and Janak Puri and some adjacent areas. They can now breathe easy for the BSES Rajdhani Power has approved installation of a new 66 kV substation/grid at Uttam Nagar adjoining Bus Terminus.

"To be constructed at an extimated cost of Rs. 5 crore, the new substation will make life easer for lakhs of residents. Besides catering to A, B and C blocks of Janak Puri it will also serve Chander Nagar, Narang Colony, Asalatpur; Possangipur and Nangli Jalib in Janak Puri area. In Uttam Nagar area it will cater to Ram Dutt Enclave, Dayalsar Road, Milap Nagar, Arya Samaj Road, Prem Nagar, Arya Samaj Road, Prem Nagar, Jeewan Park, chanakya Place, Indra Park and," says Janak Puri councillor Sanjay Puri.

Puri has been pursuing the issue with BSES, Delhi Government and DDA for long.

The project of substation had gone in limbo with DDA retracting from its earlier promise to give land at concessional rates.

In a meeting of top officials held in the office of chief secretary, the DDA vice chairman finally agreed to provide land to the power Distribution Company, BSEs Rajdhani Power, on the same rate that it had promised the dVB.

In the new substation/grid, two substation, each of 20 MVA capacity is being installed. These will cater especially to the area of Uttam Nagar. This will free Janak Puri C-1 sub station from the extra load in turn, areas of Vikaspuri will also benefit from surplus power of the new sub-station.

To solve the power woes of C-2 block Janak Puri, the BSES has agreed to install an independent substation here.
