More
loyal than the king
(Evening News Saturday Dec. 30 1995)
Call it action and reaction or call it a case of sour
grapes, but some overactive members of the Congress
(Rao) and Congress (Indira) have taken it upon themselves
to decide who will join their party and whose entry
will be banned.
It
all started by Maninder Singh Bitta, the President
of the Indian Youth Congress, giving a call, some time
back, to the party that if ever the two Congress parties
became one the IYC will protest against the entry of
Arjun Singh and N.D. Tewari to the party-fold.
As
if to counter this, the NSUI (Indira) in its meeting
held recently in the Capital passed a resolution that
the Rao Congress will be without Rao after the elections
and their members will rush to join the Indira Congress,
the NSUI-I would not allow some people to join them
because of their anti-Rajiv Gandhi stance.
The
name on the hit list of the NSUI-I are those of Jagdish
Tytler, M.S. Bitta (naturally), R.K. Dhawan, Y.C. Shukla,
Matang Singh, and Labour Minister Venkataswamy. This
resolution was passed in the presence of Arjun Singh
to the clapping of hands. One can only call it a case
of wishful thinking on the part of these more layal
than the king leaders.
