In
keeping with the best and the highest traditions of
Indian National Congress the Party has nominated one
of its most talented and young faces, Shri Sanjay Puri,
to represent it from Janak Puri in the coming Assembly
polls. Full of youthful enthusiasm and unflinching perseverance
Sanjay Puri’s heart beats for Janak Puri as he grew
up in its by lanes, lives here and knows this area as
an insider. As a Municipal councilor for nearly two
years from Ward 17 of Janak Puri and also as Chairman
of West Zone, Sanjay Puri, through sheer hardwork and
dedication to his constituents has cemented his place
in the hearts of residents of Janak Puri.
Sanjay
Puri began his political career in 1985 when he joined
Congress party and was elected the Secretary Students
Union at Motilal Nehru College of University of Delhi.
His dynamism and leadership qualities helped him rise
to the post of President NSUI (IN) in 1995. During his
career as the NSUI President he achieved several successes
including facilitation of introducing new courses in
many colleges of University of Delhi. He also ably led
delegations to UGC and through his problem-solving leadership
qualities helped many a College in the University resolve
several of their age-old problems. His continuous and
keen interest in the academic life of the University
and the students, Sanjay Puri was appointed Secretary
cum Spokesperson of the Indian Youth Congress during
which he championed the cause of youth, unemployment
and other problems faced by them.
Sanjay
Puri has always remained at the forefront of espousing
various social causes and his bonding with Janak Puri
in his words has been "more emotional than political".
His consistent endeavours to provide a better quality
of life for the residents of Janak Puri is well known
to his constituents. As a Municipal Councillor he has
been able to realize some of his dreams for Janak Puri
which he has been nurturing for many years before he
was elected. His elevation as Chairman of MCD, West
Zone was truly a short in the arm for his zeal to work
on a broader canvas than to be restricted to one area.
He has remarkable successes to his credit in a short
span of less than two years. His untiring efforts for
giving concrete shape to projects like Delhi Haat,
Community Wedding Mart, Coffee Home and
Old Age Transit Home at Janak Puri eminently
speak for his sensitivity and conviction to the causes
of various age and social groups. In a time when many
of residents and Resident Welfare Associations have
been voicing concerns for electricity supply in various
areas of Delhi, Sanjay Puri through his concerted efforts
brought in revolutionary improvement in the electricity
distribution system of Janak Puri. Though he was elected
from Ward 17 of Janak Puri, he has made significant
contributions towards bettering the quality of life
for the residents of Ward 18. Sanjay Puri always believes
